Further to our call for candidates of 27/04, organized every year in accordance with our statutes to partially renew our APEEEL2 Management Committee,  we are pleased to confirm that we have received 15 applications for the 10 positions available. All our parent members will soon receive the profiles of our candidates to help them make their choice. As part of “Kidsonbike”, a Europe-wide initiative organized by parents, more than 150 cyclists and representatives of the local Elderly Council and the Communal Council participated to the success of the event ! This was also the continuation of a Bertrange parents group’s joined efforts and new initiatives throughout the last 2-3 years to draw the commune’s attention to safety challenges for cycling children on their way to school.

The traditional BOOK FAIR organized by Les Mots de Zaza will be held in May from 8:30 until 18:00 at Lux2 in the Primary building, offering books for sale in English, French, German, Italian, Greek, Hungarian and Czech to increase children’s interest in reading. To comply with the School security policy, the date of this event will only be communicated to all our parents in our April Newsletter and via our Class Reps network.

We were very pleased to see that more than 350 students from S4 to S7 attended our “Careers Day” evening last 23 March at Lux2! Special thanks to all our 65 speakers for volunteering to present their work and experience to our students, our School Director, Mr Maurice Van Daal for a very inspiring Opening Ceremony speech and to our former Lux2 students for their very appreciated video testimonials on their experience at our School. Many thanks also to all the students who answered our post-event survey, see details enclosed.

APEEEL2 was very pleased to welcome InterParents representatives in our School, as part of their preparation meeting for the “Board of Governors” meeting which took place from 12 to 14/04 in Ireland. InterParents is composed of volunteer representatives from the 13 Parents’ Associations from the 13 European Schools and represent parents at central level.

After many years of being the “Educational Support Coordinator for Secondary”, Charlotte Henriksen has left our School. She will be greatly missed, and Stefanie Fischer (left on the picture), Head of our “APEEEL2 Educational Support Committee”, was very pleased to offer her a small farewell gift as a testimony of our gratitute for her past outstanding work with our children and Lux2 families.

We encourage Bertrange students and their families to come numerous to the 1st Kidical Mass cycling tour in Bertrange, organized on Sunday 14/05 at 11:00 as a fun, family-friendly 40-minute tour through town. We also encourage parents, including those whose children don’t cycle to School, to complete a short survey on setting up a velobus (accompanied cycling) for children.

Around 50 parents attended the “Bee Secure conference for parents” organized by APEEEL2, in collaboration with the School Secondary advisors on Thursday 20 April 2023. The audience appreciated the warnings given on cookies, weak passwords, fake news, as well as issues relating to AI generated photos or videos… All documentation including guidelines and the evening’s presentation are enclosed.

Since last September, all students enrolled in Merite Jeunesse have attended theoretical weekly sessions to prepare for weekend practice expeditions scheduled last month and this month. Students are now looking forward to organizing their assessed expeditions. During our last Careers Day event, we were reminded by many Lux2 former students how much universities appreciate this experience when selecting their applicants.
